Altria Shareholder Meeting Protest 2007

The birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming – you know what that means…it’s the time of the year for the Altria Shareholder’s Meeting. The Altria Group was formally known as Philip Morris – the parent company to a slew of commercial ventures that runs the gambit of everything from Marlboro cigarettes on down to a variet.

Every year Altria opens up their doors to anyone who has invested in the company, and every year activists from around the world infiltrate the meeting. The meeting is held for the purpose of giving the people who hold shares in the company the opportunity to voice their opinions about the direction the company is going in or ask general questions. For this meeting Altria sends in their head honchos and their talking heads in fancy suits to listen to these opinions and to answer any questions people may have.

Naturally, activists see this as an opportunity to seize this rare access, and bring their messages directly to the people in charge of the most-profitable cigarette company in the world, and the people who invest money in said nefarious company.

Check-out the video, audio, and pictures from the brave young who transmitted their activities.
