Hang out with Catalyst at the Dakota County Fair

Would You Like to Help Reduce Smoking at the Dakota County Fair?

The Dakota County Fair has a 150-year history of providing a full week of summer fun for families.  As history has evolved, smoking in public places has become uncommon – even in outdoor entertainment and recreation settings.

Minnesota Parks, Zoos and Ski Areas have adopted policies to eliminate or restrict smoking at their outdoor facilities.  These policies reduce cigarette litter, as well as people’s exposure to dangerous secondhand smoke.  They also provide positive role modeling for children, and a healthier, more enjoyable experience for everyone! 

When:  Thursday, August 7 from 4:00-9:00 pm.  You can come by any time that is convenient for you, and help out for as little or as long as you like.

Why:  To determine the extent of the problem.  We will be doing a Tobacco Litter Clean-Up of the fair grounds and Observing How Much Smoking is Taking Place at locations at the fair.

What:  We will check out the Carnival Area, Picnic Area, the Tractor Pull in the Grandstand (5:00 pm start), the Music at the Entertainment Stage (8:30 pm start), and more.

You Get:  In appreciation for your help, we will provide the following for yourself, friends, and family members who help on August 7:

    * Free all-day admission to the Fair!
    * Free all-day parking on the Fair Grounds!
    * A $10 stipend for a meal (or other use)!
    * Free admission to the Tractor Pull!
