New Camel product causing an uproar

Posted May 16, 2008 in Talk | 483 views | 0 comments

Camel (made by the RJ Reynolds Corp.) is unveiling a new type of cigarette that some say is target youth.

The cigarette is called Camel Crush, and it’s RJR’s attempt to break into the menthol market. The cigarette contains a small capsule inside the filter, when ‘crushed’ it releases menthol flavor into the cigarette. Brian Stebbins of Camel says that the idea behind the cigarette is for “customers to customize the experience.”

The response from The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids was clear, "Tobacco companies have carefully designed their products to attract new users, almost all of whom are children."
