Seth Bixby Daugherty used to own his own restaurant in Downtown Minneapolis called Cosmos. He’s won an award for best new chef in 2005 from Food And Wine magazine, and his restaurant job was an upscale, “six figure job” as he puts it, but he left it to try and make a difference in the school food system.
He now goes into the schools and finds ways to make there food healthier, and to keep it affordable.
He started an organization called Real Food Initiatives. Their mission is to work on a local and national level to get more REAL FOODS in the public schools cafeterias
- Break the cycle of processed foods.
- Get the federal government to change how and what farmers are subsidized.
- Work on getting more local products on the school tables.
- Help reduce the number of obese children growing up in our culture today.
